Gastric Bypass Cost

This is not an invite for people to critisize someone’s choice, but only to share valuable information.
I would like to hear from those of you who have used surgery to take off weight. Be it Gastric Bypass, stomach stapling, or the newer stomach banding. Was it worth it? Did you have many complications? Did your health insurance cover the costs?

I am currently on the waiting list to have a Gastric Bypass Roux en Youx (in the next eight weeks). The surgery is to be performed as open surgery, however my G.P. feels i may have a stomach ulcer (due to my syptoms) i take omeprazole 40mg a day and i am wondering wether it is safe to have the op if i have an ulcer? If any one in the medical proffesion could please help with my query id really appreciate it.

My mother has Hepatitis C, she has already finished treatment for the Hepatitis and recently everything has been fine. On her last tests nothing even showed up. A few days ago she found out she was a candidate for Gastric Bypass surgery. While she is not heavily overweight, she does meet the guidelines and would like to have it done. Her heart doctor told her she needed to find out if her having Hepatitis C would interfere with that or cause them to not allow her to receive the surgery before he filled out all the paper work. So I’m trying to find out for her. Thanks!

I had a gastric bypass 6 years ago, I need a tummy tuck but employer switched to HMO. I have heard that Kaiser will do it, but you have to meet their criteria. Anyone know what I should say to the doctor to get him to authorize the procedure? What is the criteria? Thanks

I’m a pre op gastric bypass patient and I was just wondering if it is very common to have problems with gallbladder issues after the surgery if you have never had problems prior to surgery?

I am about 40 pounds overweight, and I’m afraid that I will just get fatter as I get older. I eat healthy food and exercise regularly. I’m just a chunky monkey Would I qualify for gastric bypass? Is it ever done as a preventative measure?

I have no insurance and would like to get gastric bypass done if so one out here knows any useful info I would be greatly thankful. There has to be something or someone that can give a girl some help.

My sister had gastric bypass surgery in March of 2005. She recently found out that she is 8 weeks pregnant. I need any information on the risk that we should be aware of considering the past surgery. Please help if you can. GOD BLESS U ALL!
