has anyone had the gastric bypass or lapband surgery? have they worked, how much weight have you lost, how log has it taken, any side effects and do you wish u never had it done? how much did it cost? please help i can deal with dieting and exercise anymore, it dosent work and im willing to risk my life, im only 24 and dont want to deal with weight problems for the rest of my life..
I am 34 years old. I weigh 225 lbs and have fluctuated between 205 and 240 for about 14 years. I have seen a couple of people who have had gastric bypass or the lapband procedure and I want to do it so bad. However, I am curious about others who have had either procedure and how the outcome was, side effects, regrets etc. Also how much does the procedure cost and would you consider it worth it.
Please help me to settle a long going debate between my friend and I. I told her that even though I don’t know of anyone – that it seems plausible to me, that LapBand surgery can be done on someone who has had gastric bypass surgery, about 5 years ago. She doesn’t see how it can happen, since the stomach is smaller and the band would have nothing to ‘fit’ around. What are your views?

Is there any way (similar to how dental colleges work, free dental repairs for volunteers) to get discounted or free Lapband or Gastric Bypass surgery by going to a medical school, university or clinic where they are training surgeons to do the procedures with guidance from experienced teacher/surgeons? The cost of these procedures are SO high (I’ve gotten estimates of 15-25k) and I don’t have insurance (no guarantee that would even cover it anyhow) – Just trying to come up with some alternatives to pay for the cost of the procedure
