Anyone Know The Cost Of Gastric Bypass Surgery (or The Lap Band)?
It depends on your area. There are a lot of fees. You have to pay for classes in the beginning, testing, Bod Pod, nutritionist, psych eval., then there is the hospital, doctor, anesthesia, it can run around $50K easily, but if you can qualify for public aid, the gastric costs you around $300, the Lap Band is not covered.

Lapband is 15K in Texas. I had it done and I had to pay out of pocket. If you have great insurance, you might be able to go that route. Plus, there are companies out there that will finance this type of surgery. That’s how I did it.

How can you find out about public aid?
I went through the begining stages of the lap band! It is by far safer than the gastric. It is also reversable. It runs about 15k for just the surgery! They have payment plans if you are paying out of pocket! You do have to pay for Dr. fees, and tests. Some insurance companies will cover it but most require 6 months of supervised weightloss. Like Jenny craig, Weight Watchers or Dr. Visits.

I think the gastric is like 30k and for the lap band not to sure
however if the person is so overweight where it is endangering their health and the doctor agrees you can get your insurance to cover some if not all of it
be advised this is a risky procedure and if you don’t follow your post op instructions you’ll be right back in the hospital getting re-opened from a ruptured stomach
