You are very close to being the recommended weight for someone your age and height, so I wouldn’t lose too much.
With the weight that you’re at, no one will even DO a gastric bypass on you.
Gastric bypass is to be used as a LAST RESORT for very obese people.
Have you done research on gastric bypass? Your stomach is so small that you can barely eat anything, and you have to take vitamins for the rest of your life because you can’t physically eat enough to get your recommended amount.
Not to mention I hear it’s close to $50,000 to have that done, and the only way to get around that cost is to have your doctor prescribe the surgery, which he won’t, because you’re already only 20lbs away from being at your recommended weight.
If you’re looking for a really drastic and fast way to lose weight, try this website out. I looked at it a couple months ago when my friend wanted to try it, and it’s been working for her so far. http://www.18in4.com

No reputable doctor would do a gastric bypass on you at that weight. Generally, you have to be at least 100 pounds over your ideal weight. Even then, you have to pass a battery of psychological tests to be sure you are a good candidate. Based on your above comments, I don’t think you would pass that part either. You are going to have do some work yourself to lose weight…there is no magic pill…or operation.
BTW, my brother and his wife had the surgeries, in their 40s, and it cost them about $5,000 a piece. That was about 3 years ago. It probably varies where you live too. They lived in Florida.

Gastric-Bypass is a risky operation and not all people qualify for it. Folks with a minor overweight problem do not usually qualify for the procedure. There are also various other medical conditions that may prohibit the procedure. As I I have heard from folks who have it, it’s usually in the $25 – $27K range. You’d need to consult a surgeon to get the actual cost.

actually its only available to those that are at least 80 lbs over the ideal weight limit for their body. The lap band is also like that. Diet and exercise are the only options other than liposuction. Gastric bypass is not just an operation, its a complete lifestyle change. You have to go to 3 months of counseling, plus be evaluated by a psychatrist before you can get it done also. My suggestion to you would to be to go out and exercise. Look at it like this, a year membership at Golds gym is like $300. The Gastric bypass surgery along with the counseling, and everything is close to $100,000. You also have to maintain with the gastric bypass, which mean you would have to exercise then too.
