Lap Band Surgery side effects?

How is it going? I was walking through the mall today and I thought of a good gastric bypass question. Well, here it is. I think you will find it helpful.
My sister is has been going to her doctor for a while now to prove she is ready for the surgery and has lost 30 lbs and has been taking test to see if she would qualify and she does. Now she is hearing all the worst side effects and might not do it.
I am wanting to know if anyone has had the surgery and if something went wrong and the side effects.
Didn’t you enjoy that? I did. I think I may add my own answer to that gastric bypass question. How about you?
Hope you found what you need! Come back often!

Hi there,
All types of bariatric surgery carry side effects. For lap band surgery in particular, side effects can include:
- temporary hair loss (comes with drastic weight loss or nutritional deficiency after surgery)
- nausea/vomiting
- difficulty swallowing
- indigestion
- intolerance to certain foods
- constipation
Fortunately, the severity of most of these can be reduced (if not avoided altogether) with the right change in behavior before and after surgery.
Your sister’s decision about whether or not to have surgery should be made by comparing…
A) What are the risks of NOT receiving bariatric treatment: http://www.bariatric-surgery-source.com/… (i.e. Obesity health problems: http://www.bariatric-surgery-source.com/… , obesity discrimination, quality of life, etc.)
…versus…
B) What are the risks of complications and side effects of surgery (http://www.bariatric-surgery-source.com/… ) and is she prepared for the huge changes required during life after surgery (http://www.bariatric-surgery-source.com/… )
If she decides to move forward, she should think long and hard about which procedure she wants. Many patients are gung-ho about lap band or gastric bypass surgery because those are the names they’ve heard before, but other procedures, including gastric sleeve surgery (http://www.bariatric-surgery-source.com/… ), should be strongly considered. There is not necessarily a “best” bariatric procedure; different surgeries are right for different people. This page will help her compare the pros, cons and typical outcomes of the most common procedures: http://www.bariatric-surgery-source.com/… .
Wish her luck for me!
Best,
Jeff
